"I think I'll relax for a bit and play The Sims..."

Felt like sharing the absolute chaos I just attempted to manage:

    • Playing my fave little family: Husband, wife (pregnant), toddler, dog
    • Parents haven't been on a date in a while -- they hire a nanny, go have dinner.
    • Restaurant is fun but both parents get exhausted to near-collapse, so we go home.
    • Nanny has left the kitchen counter dirty, several half-eaten plates of food, and a cutting board from an abandoned cuisine project, but that's a problem for Morning Parents. Toddler's needs are pretty good; he goes to sleep, parents go to sleep.
    • 3:30am, toddler's super hungry and mad about it. Dad wakes up, struggles to get kid into highchair because kid keeps trying to "Ask for Food" instead of being picked up to go eat the food that's already waiting. Meanwhile, Mom's bladder is tanking so I wake her up and send her to bathroom.
    • Mom breaks toilet and then dirties bathroom sink, promptly goes into labor.
    • We call the nanny again. Toddler is begging to roughhouse, dog is whining to go for a walk. Dad is, of course, dancing around in a panic. Mom keeps attempting to get yoghurt out of the fridge.
    • Nanny arrives so we "Have Baby at Hospital". Fast forward, pause for name-the-baby prompt, I take a few moments happily deciding on a name for their daughter, hit submit.
    • SECOND BABY NAME PROMPT.
    • Brought twins home, saved game, exited. Not tonight.

LOL. What's the most chaotic day you've had in the game?

You can pretty much play as a kid and not get bored in sims 3. My child sim spent a whole day of fun with his friend. From movies to dinner to fishing in the evening

Ended 2020 with a wedding. 10/10, all the planning and micro-management was worth it.

    Autonomous sims progression?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 01:08 AM PST

Anyone else annoyed that Sims literally cannot advance in life without you holding their hand?

Like for example, do Sims really need me for their progression? Why is it that I started Cassandra's violin skill as a teen and got her to 3, come back after cycling through other families and now she is as a young adult... and she's still at a 3 violin?? Same goes for their friendships, career advancements, etc. Why can't the Sims advance on their own? It'd be cool if we can cycle off with other families for a bit, come back and see sims skilled up in points, or made new friends, got a promotion etcetera. It kills off any depth especially if you want to play more than one family for many generations.

Scheduled a wedding in Brindleton without realising that there would be a blizzard happening there as well. Wanted to stubbornly go on with the wedding anyway, and two uninvited guests from Sulani ended up dying from the cold... (Somehow the guests that I actually invited were okay).
