    Introduction for Newcomers

Every two weeks the challenge will change, We'll design a different house or interior of a room and we might even sneak a few Create-A-Sims in to break it up a little.

Certain challenges will have a monetary limit, some will be spend as much as you like/can to impress.

We try to make it so everyone can participate in all challenges no matter which Sims game you have and which expansion/stuff packs you have.

If you would like to see some of our past challenges, please check out THIS link.

Bi-Weekly Build Challenge, Week 96: Bizarrchitecture; "What Were They Thinking" Mystery Homes!

The weird and wonderful designs of unusual architecture -- the type that don't seem to be built to solve generic problems, like those in the modern architecture category, but to fulfill the dreams of their creators. For example, the Winchester Mansion, known for its stairways that ascend into walls, a closet about an inch deep, a "door to nowhere" that opens to empty space. Homes and spaces such as these evoke a lot of questions, one always being: What was the purpose? Most of these types of houses are local landmarks and have a distinctive theme or artistic look about them. While many of us are probably wondering just what the architects of these houses were thinking, it goes to show that there are many ways of thinking 'out of the box' about housing and that there are few limits to our creative abilities. Eccentric homes can be found all over the world and range from cave dwellings and tree houses to soccer-ball-shaped shelters, toilet-shaped homes, and portable domiciles. This weeks challenge is to create your own uniquely themed home (or base it off of an existing structure) and force us viewers to ask ourselves, "what were they thinking?".

    Key Elements:

    • Mismatched or distinctly themed furniture and decoration.

    • Questionable architecture and design features.

    • Aesthetics are prioritized over functionality, in terms of layout.

May be residential or commercial (apartments OK!), and fully functional. (TIP: Consider using cheats to unlock debug/hidden items and to place objects more freely!)

NOTE: Challenges are open for TWO weeks!

PSA: Stop acting like making one black sim is an accomplishment

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 11:21 PM PDT

People of color are not a spectacle to be shown off and ogled at even if it's in a simulation game. It's the one place where they can experience a life devoid of bias and a bunch of ignorant users are now seeing it as an opportunity to get pats on the back for how "inclusive" they are.

When you post about your "first black/asian/latina" sim, you look ignorant at best and racist at worst. You don't need to out yourself like that.

Please, post your lovely sims of color for everyone to see. But don't act like you deserve a reward for "being so inclusive". Really all that it says about you is that you'll only bother including diverse sims if there's something in it for you (in the form of internet validation).
