    Introduction for Newcomers

Every two weeks the challenge will change, We'll design a different house or interior of a room and we might even sneak a few Create-A-Sims in to break it up a little.

Certain challenges will have a monetary limit, some will be spend as much as you like/can to impress.

We try to make it so everyone can participate in all challenges no matter which Sims game you have and which expansion/stuff packs you have.

If you would like to see some of our past challenges, please check out THIS link.

Bi-Weekly Build Challenge, Week 86: Mid-Century Modern Home

If houses reflect the times they were designed, midcentury modern is the architecture of ideas, created by those who believed the forward-looking style could be a vehicle for social change to create a better society. Characterized by flat planes, large glass windows and open space, these homes (built from 1945 to the 1980s) featured simplicity and an integration with nature, encouraging residents to explore the world in new ways.

    Key Elements:

    • Flat planes - The geometric lines of the house are regular and rigorous. Flat roofs are common, though modern ranch-style houses had gable roofs.

    • Large windows - Sliding-glass doors and other expansive panes of glass allow light to enter rooms from multiple angles.

    • Changes in elevation - Small steps going up and down between rooms creates split-level spaces. A midcentury modern might have partial walls, or cabinets of varying heights to create different depths in the space.

    • Integration with nature - Rooms have multiple outdoor views, or multiple access points, encouraging an appreciation of healthy living

Must be residential/rental (NO apartments!), and fully functional. (TIP: Consider using cheats to unlock debug/hidden items and to place objects more freely!)

NOTE: This challenge will be open for TWO weeks!

It's all very well being off-grid but...

    Posted: 11 Jan 2020 04:50 PM PST

..we need some items that support it! Where are the solar panels? The compost toilets. The wood burners so that they can get a hot shower or bath?

There needs to be an "off grid" pack or something.

I still don't get why my sim can use her laptop in the middle of a park, but not in her off-grid house. Especially as her phone is holding its charge...
