Bi-Weekly Build Challenge, Week 106: Around the World; Traditional Japanese Homes!

Think of a traditional Japanese house and what elements come to mind? You're probably picturing soft tatami mats, delicate shoji screens and warm wooden beams; and while these are important hallmarks of Japanese interior design, they are only a small component of the rich and inspiring heritage of traditional Japanese architecture. Traditional Japanese houses have a special relationship with nature. In extreme cases, the best part of a lot was given over to the garden, and the house design on the land left over. Furniture was sparse in Japanese homes in the medieval period but might include floor cushions, portable armrests, a low table, small storage cabinets, hidden cupboards, and chests. Many people hung artworks inside their homes, such as hanging scrolls made from either silk or paper, in order to decorate.

    Key Elements:

    • Mat flooring, tea paper walls, sliding doors and folding screens.

    • Tea Rooms or tea houses.

    • Wooden (engawa) verandas, and heavy roofs with deep overhangs.

Residential ONLY. Must be fully functional. (TIP: Consider using cheats to unlock debug/hidden items and to place objects more freely!)

NOTE: Challenges are open for TWO weeks!

After endless hours spent waiting for waiters to deliver food to my sims, I finally figured out that you can shift-click on the table to get the meal brought out immediately

My favorite detail about bonehilda in sims 3 is that if she drinks something, it immediately goes through her and forms a puddle, which she then has to clean.

I'm currently rebuilding Brindleton Bay and was really proud of this wedding venue I built! I replaced the Tail's End lot so I hope you don't mind ghost pets roaming the shores while your sims say their vows. The lot is called Bayside Wedding Venue and my Origin ID is Ginsbergreen. Hope you enjoy!

Fear the Power of the Army of Bonehildas (I bought 10+ Bonehildas to rake my leaves and they do everything in sync and it's pretty terrifying).
