I finally realized what makes Sims 4 boring

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 10:13 PM PDT

After 20 lunar cycle, i finally found my answer, my cornucopia, my magnum answer, my philosopher's stone.

    IT'S THE SIMS THEMSELVES

They're only defined by their traits. Aspirations doesn't affect their Whims at all unlike the past games did with their Wants. And the thing is, the TRAITS ARE SURFACE LEVEL AT BEST. Sims 3 traits are amazing, they have depth, that they change how they behave and what you can do with them, for example, Unlucky sims can't die outside of old age because it amuses the Grim Reaper, for one, but it affects their other interactions too (which is a lot). For comparison sake, Active trait in Sims 4 just means that they will randomly get Energized mood and get Negative mood when they haven't exercised.

Okay, maybe that's not fair but for an apt comparison, look at Evil trait from both games. https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Evil_(The_Sims_4) https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Evil_(The_Sims_3)

Add the fact that you can only have 3 as opposed to 5 traits and your Sims starts to get more same-y.

I'm fully aware that it's because traits obviously came from the base game, which is an utter putrid disgrace of a base game compared to all other base games that should have been given for free after 2018. But i REALLY hope they will address this... Look, I'm even willing to pay for an Expansion Pack addressing this (hopefully the one in the roadmap is....) or even a GP a la (and hopefully in the same quality as) Parenthood. While i really miss uniquely made Sims, i still wouldn't trade it for the several improvements in other aspects (obviously besides the Sims themselves) that Sims 4 made like Vampire or Celebs.

Tl;dr please make an EP specifically for Traits :)
