Bi-Weekly Build Challenge, Week 106: Around the World; Traditional Japanese Homes!

Think of a traditional Japanese house and what elements come to mind? You're probably picturing soft tatami mats, delicate shoji screens and warm wooden beams; and while these are important hallmarks of Japanese interior design, they are only a small component of the rich and inspiring heritage of traditional Japanese architecture. Traditional Japanese houses have a special relationship with nature. In extreme cases, the best part of a lot was given over to the garden, and the house design on the land left over. Furniture was sparse in Japanese homes in the medieval period but might include floor cushions, portable armrests, a low table, small storage cabinets, hidden cupboards, and chests. Many people hung artworks inside their homes, such as hanging scrolls made from either silk or paper, in order to decorate.

    Key Elements:

    • Mat flooring, tea paper walls, sliding doors and folding screens.

    • Tea Rooms or tea houses.

    • Wooden (engawa) verandas, and heavy roofs with deep overhangs.

Residential ONLY. Must be fully functional. (TIP: Consider using cheats to unlock debug/hidden items and to place objects more freely!)

NOTE: Challenges are open for TWO weeks!

Photorealistic Sims are so creepy. I'd rather have cartoony & smooth graphics than photorealistic graphics that seem off and Uncanny Valley territory.
