Friendly reminder: If you want the devs to know you’re unhappy with the new Star Wars pack, DON’T buy it!

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 12:34 PM PDT

This seems to be a point of confusion for some people - granted, packs that were subjects of complaint in the past ended up not being so bad, such as Moschino. HOWEVER.

I get so tired of coming to this sub and seeing people complain about those features are missing from The Sims 4, seemingly ruining their gameplay. It also changes constantly: first it was seasons, then it was university, then it was (absurdly) ladders - and as those things are added, people stop complaining. The only issue: while the devs continued to push out subpar content that wasn't what people wanted, consumers also continued to fall into line and buy it.

If you want the devs to know you're unhappy with the SW pack, don't buy it. Yes, it's really that simple.

The recent tweets/replies from SimGuruLyndsay regarding this pack tell you everything you need to know about how much the devs appreciate community feedback. Hit them the only place it can hurt - in the wallet. I don't care about how much you want your game to be 'complete.' I also don't care if you believe it will be better than everyone expects and want to give it a chance. If you are at all serious about wanting the changes and content implemented that the community has asked for time and again, do NOT buy this pack.

If this pack sells well and a ton of people are here posting about playing with it, it heralds the end of this franchise's quality. If the dedicated cult of Simmers are willing to buy the Star Wars pack when it's (A) not what they chose in official surveys/polls, (B) is being reviewed poorly, and (C) flies in the face of all other problems Simmers have brought up with previous packs such as lack of buildable lots, then they will have fallen for EA's moneygrab hook, line, and sinker.

I welcome your thoughts and feedback on this issue. Thanks for reading.

I can’t be the only one who has a problem with the fact that they made normal sims like Geoffrey Landgraab the ones who tell you to go to Batuu....

The Sims team’s explanation to why they haven’t worked on cars, bunk beds, farms and other aspects of the game doesn’t make sense.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:09 PM PDT

I hope this doesn't come across as ignorant but I'm really having to call out the sims team for their excuses. They say that the reason why they haven't produced the content the fans want the most such as cars, bunkbeds, farms etc. is because it takes time to develop them technologically.

But I'm sorry I just don't buy that. This is an entire company with 100s of games designers. On top of that, creating cars is not any more difficult than any other asset they make for any game. I'm sure it takes just as much work as making a spaceship for the Star Wars pack. Every new item needs animation and textures, so why put that effort towards content we don't want?

Farming as well - there is no reasonable explanation as to why this is sort of content would be more difficult to create than any other expansion.

I just really am annoyed at this point. They say they want realistic content so don't let us control the pets, yet make gigantic cupcake machines and spaceships and aliens and witches.

The star wars expansion is looking great so far

Gone back to TS3, and cannot believe I never played World Adventures years ago! EGYPT!! Sims 4 could never.

One thing I hated about sims 4 is that I couldn't randomly fish on any bodies of water. Sims 3 open world is just great, as long as you get it to work

The Sims devs should spend a game pack’s worth of effort on a giant patch

    Posted: 04 Sep 2020 02:39 AM PDT

To fix their cratering reputation, The Sims devs should postpone new content and instead spend some real effort on fixing the uncountable bugs present in the base game and nearly every pack.

Every patch notes have me going "ah, maybe this will finally be the time they fix X.... nope." Bringing out a true expectations-defying patch could go a long way toward restoring the community's goodwill.

It might even make financial sense, because I can't be the only one holding back from buying certain packs because they are reportedly full of bugs.

    Shout out to modders

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:16 PM PDT

If there's a modder who's made a bigger difference in your game play than the Star Wars pack would, I challenge you to drop $20 to them rather than on the new pack. Let's show them our appreciation for actually improving the game (and doing it for free).
