Every two weeks the challenge will change, We'll design a different house or interior of a room and we might even sneak a few Create-A-Sims in to break it up a little.

Certain challenges will have a monetary limit, some will be spend as much as you like/can to impress.

We try to make it so everyone can participate in all challenges no matter which Sims game you have and which expansion/stuff packs you have.

Bi-Weekly Build Challenge, Week 105: Mid-Century Modern Mansions!

Picture a long, low-slung home with floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed beams and an open floor plan... That description fits a fair number of prairie, ranch, and mid-century modern style homes, which sometimes causes confusion, because mid-century modern is not actually a style: It's a collection that broadly describes architecture, furniture, and graphic design from the middle of the 20th century, roughly 1940 to 1975. What these types of homes share is "an emphasis on lifestyle, a new way of modern living centered around family and home". Mid-century modern homes were inspired by high-style prairie architecture, which emphasized how people lived while melding buildings with their environment. Frank Lloyd Wright, the father of the prairie style, said that in modern U.S. architecture, form no longer followed function: Form was function. Mid-century modern encompasses three well-known styles — international, contemporary and organic. Build the mid-century modern mansion of your dreams and bring the outside in!

    Key Elements:

    • Simple, clean look, inside and outside. Lots of windows.

    • Flat, contemporary roofing.

    • Features "natural" materials such as wood, stone and brick.

Residential ONLY. Must be fully functional. (TIP: Consider using cheats to unlock debug/hidden items and to place objects more freely!)

NOTE: Challenges are open for TWO weeks!

I've always wanted to see how many moodlets a sim could have at the same time. My game crashed after 30 and the save became unplayable, but I consider the experiment a success.

I've been building this family house for an hour and for some reason got strangely obsessed with this corner TV unit and finishing it perfectly. The house doesn't even have toilets yet.

Hot take: if EA wants to truly listen to us, community votes should be made for game packs and expansion packs, not packs that focus mostly on aestethic and not gameplay.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 12:45 AM PST

I feel like community votes have been always used to distract the sims community after a big controversy that they got involved in (this time being the mess that was Journey to Batuu) and even tho we can get truly good stuff out of it, most of the time it's never enough.

We should be able (even if it is at least once) to pick the theme for a game pack or an expansion pack because both of those things are things that actually impact the gameplay in a bigger way than stuff packs. Stuff packs expectedly mostly add stuff, and I think a big part of the community is getting tired of it.

This game is just a bunch of stuff, stuff and more stuff, it mostly never tries to add something that affects gameplay in a meaningful way. Island living? Nice looking world and furniture, but lacks gameplay. Snowy Escape? Looks cute, still shallow. We NEED to be able to decide what direction this game takes, because the sims team CLEARLY doesn't know considering they did Journey to Batuu.

Does anybody think the same? Do you have any ideas for your own packs that you want to give? I want to hear your opinions, I think it would be nice to hear your desires for this game in great details.

This is it. This is my peak. I can never make another sim who's as beautiful as her. Every single sim who isn't her will disappoint me. I've made a mistake.

Haven’t played S3 in awhile. It’s the little things that get me, my cat hunting a turtle. I wish there was more like this in S4.
