EA: we can’t have cars in sims 4. Also EA:

You've lost hope in The Sims?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 06:31 PM PDT

    What? Now?

The Sims 4 came out and charged full price and there were no toddlers or pools. The maps were not only 2D but in two colors. The packs were flops...one was worst than the next. And the game that's sole improvement over past generations was it's stability became buggy.

The Sims 4 was rushed. Everyone knows that. We had hope, at first, that EA would deliver quality content that would improve and expand upon the overall experience.

That didn't happen. Month after month, year after year, more of the same. Long news droughts. Baffling communications strategies by a quickly rotating list of community managers. A shocking lapse of taste with the re-branding. A missed opportunity for the big Sims anniversary. An increasing number of pack announcement trailers leaving us filled with disappointment, because whether it looks fun or not, we know it never actually is. We've learned our lesson.

Look, I've played The Sims 4 for 500+ hours. I don't think I deserve a refund or anything crazy like that. I just think someone could take the hint and hire a few SimGurus who are more in touch with that people actually want. Flop after flop, no one ever seems to learn their lesson, on either side. Until now.

I still have hope that one day there will be a kick-ass, instant-classic Sims game that's a huge leap forward in every way. But do I have hope for The Sims 4? No.

Do I have hope for The Sims 5? Eh...it would have to be one hell of a trailer ;)

I am a huge sims 4 fan and often find myself defending ts4 to other sims players. But after EA's obviously money-grubbing decision to make a SW pack, I don't want to give another cent to this company.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 09:25 PM PDT

I've been playing the sims since the sims 2 and I have a lot of love for all iterations of the game including ts4. I have a lot of issues with the game but I also really enjoy it and I have purchased every expansion pack and game pack.

But I'm honestly disgusted by EA's decision to make a pack based on a story and universe that is completely unrelated to the sims. It's a blatant marketing ploy that demonstrates how disconnected the company is from it's fan base.

I don't care about cars or a farm pack or any of the frequently requested things. I just want basic parts of the game to be fixed such as the lack of skin tones and hair types for POC sims, and I want interesting, well developed packs that actually fit in with the game's universe. A space themed pack that connected back to sixam would be awesome!

They need to stop giving us surveys if they're not going to listen to what players want. I'm done with EA. They need to seriously change their behavior and turn the game around if they don't want to lose previously loyal fans.

Stop rewarding EA. The only reason they do this is because they know we'll buy it. So don't. I stopped buying packs back in eco... If we aren't going to stop buying every cash grab thing they make then they won't stop. This is the same game that took weeks to years after launch to implement ghosts toddlers family trees and the people who stick up for ea think that's okay? HELL They made a cash grab starwars pack before fixing the skin tone issue. But no. You need all the packs. Stfu. Give up. EA doesn't give a shit about us. They only want our money and will only listen when it's being threatened. So don't give it to them. Crack the game for all I care. Just for the love of God. Don't reward ea for being such a terrible company. The sims 4 was never good, EA makes it look like the things other people make are impressive when they're simple. Do y'all not see the problem? We've put up with their shit. Why do you still buy the packs? Genuinely, Why? They aren't really good... They don't add much. So... Why? Remember the sims 2? I am a ts3 nerd but even I can admit... EA messed everything up... So stop. Trying. To. Hold. On. To. Something. That. You. All. Agree. Is. Terrible. If you find the sims 4 not a bad game... Well okay I'll respect your opinion. But on a technical scale it isn't a good game. It took weeks to months to years add some of the most basic things. Ghosts took until right around get together to be added. Toddlers took even longer. Babies are still objects. Skin tones are so shit you need literal mods to get a decent skin tone. But ok. You can buy it if you truly want to. But don't say you wish you saw the sims downfall coming. It's so blatant. Anyway.

The first time i've felt real cynical about The Sims 4

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:00 AM PDT

I've personally felt the Sims 4 gets quite a lot of underserved hate. People tend to cherry-pick parts of different games to slander this one, letting nostalgia blind them of the glaring flaws of other entries into the series (cough sims 3 store cough). Eco Living dissapointed me, both in it's trailer and release, but i still held faith in the series.

This new reveal though? it's utterly shaken my belief in this games future. It's an incredibly blind and greedy move on EA's part, no doubt the work of upper management trying to milk whatever franchise they have under their belt regardless of whover works under them (and it's the guru's who will unfortunately see the worst of the backlash and they know it). Star Wars doesn't fit the style and gameplay of The Sims, and even if it did, it's wholly unoriginal when there is literally an entire alien lifestate just begging to be fleshed out and it's own established planet that we've explored so very little of.

The Star Wars style is becoming so overdone anyways, and this new forey into the franchise doesn't do anything new, rather it's a direct copy (and advertisement) of a Disney ride. I am tired of low effort stuff and i want something to amaze me again, like the underrated club system from get together, or the resteraunt system (it's buggy, i know), or the veterinarian clinic stuff. Nothing seems to realy wow me anymore.

TLDR The new pack is an unoriginal cash grab, and i worry it's the new normal for a game that used to actually excite me.

What idea for a game pack would you have preferred over Star Wars?

I've just thought about a Romance game pack with the introduction of an attraction system, turn ons and turn offs, better dates and weddings and new romantic interactions
