Anytime I post my older sims on here I get downvotes. Age should not define someone's beauty.

Sims 4 Uni is no fun

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:40 AM PDT

Hey guys, I just started playing the Uni DLC for TS4 and honestly, I really don't like it. There are so many issues and tiny details that make it unenjoyable, and I would love to know if I'm the only one to experience these or if they're common problems!

First and foremost, the timing. You need to pass 12 classes in total, at a maximum of 4 per semester. Each semester has 5 class days, so including weekends at least 7 days in total, not including holidays. So unless you pause aging while at uni, your sim will spend it's whole YA time studying. And to be honest, taking 4 classes in one semester is a lot of work, leaving your Sim with not a lot of free time to have fun and actually enjoy the time at college!

Second, the housing. If you want to live on campus in a dorm, you can't really change anything about your room, except for tiny decorations and a mini-fridge. My first time going to college I didn't even know that Buying Mode would be disabled, so I didn't bring anything that could have been useful, like for hobbies or skills in general.

Kind of related to that, I really dislike the campus. I actually like the kiosk and that you can buy Uni-swagger, that fact that you can either eat ready-meals all day or go to the cafeteria, and I liked the idea of walking across an open campus to get to your classes or the common room. But in reality, when they start to wander slowly across campus, taking 30-45 minutes to go to a class they really need to pass, it's infuriating! I'm also not a big fan of the neighborhoods concept, I don't really see the point of watching my Sim walking to the edge of the 'map' to then get a loading screen (for example while entering the cafeteria-/common room building).

And lastly, I don't know how exactly to categorize those problems, but there are many things just not thought through. Or maybe they're glitches, I don't know. For example, I bought a bike and a textbook at the kiosk, and both items went missing shortly after using them! The bike eventually reappeared in the sims' inventory somehow, but the textbook never did. I also didn't find it at the dorm and it also didn't find its way in any of the bookshelves. And 700 simoleons is a little too much to go to waste for a college student owning 1,000 simoleons in total! Another problem I experienced, when I decided to move to another house before the new semester started, somehow some random housemate tagged along! The moving households screen appeared and I couldn't remove her from moving with my sims. So I then had two sims instead of one. Wtf.

Anyone else experiencing those problems? I feel like either I'm playing this completely wrong or the DLC is just no good.

To be fair tho, I love that you can actually go to college while having children, working, having an adult life. It's great that they made that happen.

Would love to hear your opinion!

I saw a post which said that fake garages are pointless, and I agreed. In the mean time, I have gotten some really great ideas!

    Posted: 30 Apr 2020 04:36 AM PDT

Fake garages might seem pointless since there are no cars in Sims, but if you think about it:

-The garage door wall mural from City Living has an appropriate place, as opposed to it being on a bedroom wall on the second floor of a house

-The "garage" can be "converted" into a man cave or activity area

-"Convert" it into a spare bedroom and get a room mate in Discover University

-Once your teenager turns into an adult, they can move into the garage (bachelor flat) -GARAGE PARTIES!!!

Like a house party, but in the garage. Add a bar, comfy couches and an audio system

Please excuse me for the next 12 hours. I have to go build something 😅

    Unpopular opinion but...

    Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:54 PM PDT

I find it so extremely rude when people who post photos of their sims refuse to share the cc creators' names with others just so that they are the only ones who can obtain that cc for themselves. If there is a poster who has not responded to what cc they're using, send me the post and I'll let you know who the creator of that cc is. As a sims community we should all share our content and help each other out, not hide it for our own selfish reasons.
