    The Greatest Masterpiece...

Out of all the fantastic art my level 10 painter sim has created, this one is by far my favorite. Valued at $5,128, I present to you this masterpiece of a steaming litter box that earned her a completed painting aspiration.

Toddlers are amazing in the sims 4

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 01:24 AM PST

Yes taking care of them is a bit of a chore, but my guys. There's a cheats in order to keep them happy. They are so cute, I love dressing them up and making them adorable rooms to match their interests. And have you seen how they interact with animals? Don't get me started on how they hug the big stuffed animals. I love it when my sims socialise with their toddlers by reading them books and playing with them. I love it so much. But I do use cheats in order to not take care of them.

Ideas on how to make elders fun

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 02:49 AM PST

I watched PleasantSims' video on how Elders evolved throughout the series and it got me thinking about what changes would make them actually fun.

I don't expect any of these to ever actually make their way into the games of course, but given that (in my opinion) elders have consistently been the most boring life stage I thought it would be fun to come up with ideas on how to make them more rewarding to play. I'm speaking from the perspective of someone who enjoys a want-based, slightly chaotic gameplay so I understand these might not seem fun for everyone - I'd love to gear your suggestions!

I think the biggest issue for me, both in sims2 and sims3 (haven't played sims 4), is how predictable they are. With earlier stages, you can look forward to seeing what kind of life they lead, but with elders the only unanswered question remaining is how/when they'll die, which doesn't make for very engaging gameplay. So I would love to see some elders-exclusive hidden 'traits' or aspirations that bring an element of surprise to aging up! These could be partially random, or depend on their aspiration meter, traits they already have, or how satisfying their life has been so far. Here's some examples I came up with:

    • Cat-obsessed: could happen to elder sims with social traits that don't have a lot of friends and/or family members, or widowed sims. Their wants revolve around adopting and rescuing cats.
    • Hippie grandma: could be more likely to happen to vegetarian sims, and ones without the wealth aspiration in sims2. They become interested in gardening and arts; spending time with other sims could influence them to consider quitting their job and following a similar lifestyle.
    • End-life crisis: more likely to happen to sims who spent most of their adult life working and not having much time to enjoy life. They want to catch up on everything they missed out on, and get wants relating to traveling, hanging out with other sims, and learning new hobbies.
    • Grumpy: might happen to sims who are dissatisfied with their life. The 'get off my lawn!' type, prone to yelling at neighbourhood sims stopping by or reading their newspaper. Their wants often feature nagging other sims.
    • Cougar: likely to happen to romance sims in sims2, or flirty sims in sims3. As you can probably guess, they are interested in pursuing relationships with much younger sims.
    • Strict: this sim forgot what it's like to be young, and finds late partying and public displays of affection unacceptable. Might punish teens if they play video games on weekdays, and tries to make them learn a hobby instead.

Another issue is that even with an expansions like Generations, all elders are kinda treated the same; they get extra interactions (like the reminiscing) but it's the same for every elder. For example, I think it would be fun to see family-oriented elders be able to nag their adult children about not having kids yet (and depending on their relationship, it could have an influence on the adult sim's wants).

I also would love to see more CAS items for elders, and some elder-specific lots (bingo club anyone?).

    What are your thoughts?

Decided to start a new royal legacy challenge. All hail the Goths!

Decided to start a new royal legacy challenge. All hail the Goths!

    Hi everybody!

So, I recently decided to start a royal legacy challenge in TS4. This time, however, I decided to recreate the franchise's most iconic family: the Goths! My goal is to achieve 10 generations, starting with Victor's parents. I plan on following the game's main family tree (with Victor, Gunther, and Mortimer as future kings) as well as creating new members for storyline purposes! That being said, let me introduce you to the Goths, the royal family of the United Kingdom of Forgotten Hollow, Windenburg, and Willow Creek:

King Arthur Goth IV - Quick learner, loner, bookworm, self-assured. Ascended to the throne when his father, King Gunther Goth II, died from natural causes. Twelve years after his coronation, Arthur is now one of the most beloved monarchs of all time! His extreme commitment to his duties, however, also implies that he is quite distant from his family - especially from his children. At this point, will he risk compromising his impeccable reputation in exchange for being a better parent?

Queen Consort Helena Goth - Domestic, proper, good, gloomy. A faithful wife to her husband, and great queen to her people. When she is not visiting schools and hospitals, you may find her painting, knotting, or taking care of her garden. As a protective mother, Helena aims to make sure all her children get the love and support they deserve, especially since her husband is barely at home.

Prince Victor Goth - Quick learner, bookworm, unflirty. As the firstborn and heir apparent, it is Victor's destiny to become a king. Even though his mother tried her best, Victor turned out to be very much like his father. Currently in his late teen years, he is expected to go to university soon. As a future king, however, he is also expected to start searching for his future queen - which, to be honest, is not part of his priorities right now. Will find someone who can conquer his cold heart?

Princess Lolita Goth - Music lover, social butterfly. Lolita is artistic, talkative, and the favorite of Arthur's children. There is not much to say about her: she is a prodigy. One may wonder what the future holds for her...

Prince Samuel Goth - Rambunctious scamp, slob. Samuel is the last-born and second in line to the throne. In terms of behavior, he can be quite... unpredictable. Some may say he is not a fit for the crown. Deep down, he just wishes he would receive as much attention as his siblings do.

Hope you guys enjoyed my family! I am looking forward to posting updates here as I progress with the family's storyline. The Goths truly are the royalty of The Sims. I'm having so much fun with them! Also, here are some pictures from my game:

The Goths. On the wall, portraits of the late King Gunther Goth II and his wife, Queen Mary Goth (also known as \"Bloody Mary\")

His Majesty King Arthur Goth IV in his official royal portrait.

Her Majesty Queen Helena Goth showing off her beautiful garden of dead roses.

His Royal Highness Prince Victor Goth, soon-to-be King Victor Goth.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lolita Goth playing the piano - she's quite good at it!

His Royal Highness Prince Samuel Goth making a mess. Very on-brand for him.

EA being outdone by the modding community is by design.

    Posted: 10 Jan 2021 09:55 AM PST

Maybe this has been said before, but hear me out:

I'm currently in the middle of playing the sims 4. I enjoy playing, but the ONLY reason I continue to play is because of the significant gameplay enhancements that come from the modding community.

I play with Meaningful Stories, A Slice of Life, Basemental Drugs & Gangs, and MCCC. I'm looking into downloading Brookheights and looked at the requirements for making it run smoothly (EPS needed). It dawned on me…Has EA found out the perfect recipe for making money?

I started playing the sims back when sims 2 came out. It was LOADED with content. Sims 3 was the same way. Sims 4? Yeah, it's disrespectful. But why should EA give us loads of features when they have the modding community? They're essentially adding scripts and worlds to the game and letting the modding community do the rest, which they don't have to pay for.

We continue to complain about how they don't give us enough or how they're being outdone by the modding community when this is by design. I love the modding community and will continue to support them financially, but I would love to see them band together with, say, the paralives team and give us an excellent game.

    Just my two cents.
